My name is Gregory Katz, and I’m a cardiologist and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine. I’m also an Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency.
I graduated from New York University Grossman School of Medicine, and completed my residency at NYU Langone Medical Center, where I served for a year as senior chief resident. I stayed at NYU for my cardiology fellowship, where I served as chief fellow and was selected as fellow of the year for three consecutive years.
In addition to my clinical roles, I am a Councilor for the New York chapter of the American College of Cardiology. I’m also active in digital medical education, working with CoreIM Podcast as a podcast host and director of the 12 Lead EKG series.

What can you expect from this newsletter?
This newsletter is focused on cardiovascular disease, preventive medicine, noteworthy new scientific research, nutrition, exercise, science in the media, and other topics that I’m interested in.
While I originally started this newsletter to answer questions for my friends and family about the COVID-19 pandemic, my focus has evolved. In many ways, this newsletter is reflective of a world with endemic COVID - the virus is still a part of what I cover, but it’s more background noise and an ongoing chronic issue rather than the only thing to focus on.
Hopefully you find this be interesting and educational.
Never hesitate to reply with questions, constructive critiques to improve the newsletter experience, or ad hominem attacks that will make me question my decision to write this newsletter.
